Movies at Station Park

Question: What do both these pictures have in common?

Arrival had a twist that I was not expecting and much better than I had thought it would be. You need to see this movie.

Trolls had really fun music and a great message. We left the theater singing.

Answer:  They are both movies that my family saw over
Thanksgiving Break at Station Park!

The Great Room Escape! You have to try this!!!

Who
Just about anyone can enjoy the entertainment and team building that Great Room Escape offers.  Since opening in July of 2016, Great Room Escape in Layton has hosted many different groups of people including families, church youth groups, birthday parties, group dates, bachelor and bachelorette parties, reunions, game enthusiasts, and out-of-town guests from Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado.  We have hosted corporate events including law enforcement officers, military officers, and educators.  Grandparents and young teenagers alike enjoy the immersive experience Great Room Escape offers, many returning again in order to beat their previous time or just try to figure out that clue they didn’t have time to solve the first time around.
Four partners have pooled their resources and know-how to bring Great Room Escape to Northern Utah.  All Utah natives, the team has been visiting other escape rooms across the country and is pleased to bring the experience to their friends and family at home.

What
What exactly is an escape room?
Picture this:  A dozen people are locked in a room for an hour, with only their wits and problem-solving skills to find a way out as the stress builds around them.  Some call it a murder mystery on steroids, gamified theater, a living puzzle, real-life video games, interactive entertainment or an intense team-building experience.  Northern Utah calls it the Great Room Escape, and the first franchise in the state opened its doors in Layton in July of 2016.
Each room concept has a tension or pressure element, making it just a little more challenging to recall simple spelling and arithmetic needed to solve puzzles.  This element makes the escape rooms the perfect environment for team building.
In the Zombie Room, between four to 12 guests enter an alleyway leading to the mansion of a crazed doctor intent on seeking a way to live forever.  Inside the mansion also resides the caretaker, who may have been shut up in the mansion maintaining the property and befriending the doctor a little too long.  Clues in the room appeal to many different kinds of people and test knowledge in literature, art, math, games, riddles, mechanics and music.  While the caretaker guides guests to the keys needed to escape, guests must avoid contact with the doctor, whose shackles lengthen every five minutes.
In the Houdini Room, guests attempt to help Houdini’s widow, Bess.  Houdini, the world’s greatest escape artist and famous magician, made a pact with his wife to try and make contact from beyond the grave upon his death. They also set a deadline by which they would give up and Bess was to move on with her life. As the appointed hour approaches, guests must discover the final item so that Bess may make one last attempt to contact her beloved husband.
The team hopes to add at least two other rooms to their Layton location in the future.  All rooms are over 1,000 square feet, allowing ample room for the experience.
When
Your group can request almost any time and day year-round to experience Great Room Escape with prior arrangements.  Currently, regular hours include one show each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening.  Thursdays help guests anticipate the weekend with as many as three shows.  Weekends often fill up in advance, currently offering four Friday evening shows and as many as nine Saturday shows.

As the escape room increases in popularity, show times will increase. Limited walk-ins are allowed as room permits, so online ticket purchasing at http://greatroomescape.com/saltlake/ is encouraged.  Visit our location to talk with staff members and book your show. For corporate events or special events outside of regular hours, please call to arrange a time.

Davis County Refugee Festival 2016

The Paul Moore Foundation

Join us on September 24, 2016 for our 2nd Annual 5K "Fight Like a Girl" Run/Walk and Carnival to raise money for Kristy Carpenter and her family.

Brant and Kristy Carpenter were married in 2012.  In 2013, they welcomed their first son, Cameron. On May 30, 2016, due to complications, a C-section was necessary to deliver their second son, James, at only 33 weeks.

During the C-section, the doctor found an 8 centimeter tumor on her ovary which was then removed and biopsied. The results of the tumor’s biopsy showed cancer and it was soon discovered that cancer had spread to Kristy’s lungs, spine, and sternum.

The final pathology report determined that Kristy had a rare form of cancer called Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and she was given a prognosis of 10-12 months to live.

Kristy says, “To say my world was shattered is an understatement.  I had been told that I may not make it to my brand new baby’s first birthday…but we are not giving up. And, we are making the best out of what God has given to us.”

Best Birthday Party for my 9 year old boy!

When I asked my 9 year old what he wanted to do for his birthday he said
"I want to go to As You Wish Pottery and see Kubo!"

We had so much fun with 8 kids, 4 pizzas, cupcakes and soda. Not only is it fun to paint pottery the staff was so helpful and kind and let us have the food and party with all those boys. Then they did all the clean up! Then we went to Station Park Cinemark and watch Kubo and Two Strings. We all loved the movie it is good for young and old! The boys loved the $5 snack packs that gave everyone popcorn, drink, and a snack.

August 13-22 | Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays at 8pm | Ogden Amphitheater
Ogden, Utah-- Good Company Theatre is thrilled to partner with the Ogden Amphitheater and
Chamber Orchestra Ogden to produce the musical Pirated! by celebrated Utah musical theatre
mainstay Jim Christian. The show is a hilarious romp that turns the Gilbert and Sullivan musical
The Pirates of Penzance on its head.

Set in the 1930s just as sound is making its way into motion pictures, the story centers on
a tyrannical film director caught between eras. His cast is made up of silent stars that look the part but
sound a mess. So, he hires a group of camera unready vocalists to dub over their voices. Soon the two
groups clash, and the production turns unwieldy as the director struggles to keep his shoot from
careening out of control.

"Since the beginning, we've wanted GCT to host off-site productions," explains Good Company Theatre Co-Director Alicia Washington. "We're excited to be working with Ogden Amphitheater to realize such a fantastic musical."

"Pirated! is a complete musical theatre experience," states GCT Co-Director Camille Washington. "From the opening number the show is funny and charming, the music is fantastic, and the story is great for people of all ages."

Pirated! runs August 13, 15, 18, 19, 20, and 22 at 8pm at the Ogden Amphitheater. Gates open at
7pm. Tickets are $15 for general admission, and $20 for reserved. They can be purchased in advance
at goodcotheatre.com or at the door before each performance. This show is recommended for ages 7
and up. Runtime: 120 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.
